There are two conflicting schools of interpretation regarding the extent of the Genesis flood. Traditionally the Biblical flood narrative has been understood to refer to a universal catastrophe, but on the basis of considerations from the natural sciences, commentators and interpreters began to seek for a limited flood theory or relative view of the Genesis flood. A review of the book, The Nature of the Stratigraphical Record. The geologic record can be described as long periods of relative calm punctuated by brief catastrophic events. Numerous geologic features can be traced over large portions of the earth's surface. Published in Origins v. 2, n. 2.

A review of the books Noah's Ark: Fact or Fable?and The Ark File. Legends and stories of the ark on Mt. Ararat have not been confirmed. One must be careful not to be so eager to find the ark that one does not carefully check the evidence. Published in Origins v. 2, n. 2.

The second Creation Convention was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 18-21, 1974. Published in Origins v. 2, n. 1.

A tiny marine worm, Spirorbis, constructs a calcareous tube, and is often found attached to shells and debris in the ocean. Fossil Spirorbis are sometimes common in coal beds. Some have suggested Spirorbis lived in fresh-water habitats in the past, but this is highly unlikely. It is more likely that coal formed in marine waters during the Flood. The words "burst forth" correspond to the words "were opened" and the expression "the fountains of the great deep" corresponds to the "windows of the heavens." This chiastic parallelism indicates that the waters below the ground came forth as the waters above the ground broke loose. Published in Origins v. 1, n. 2.

The Gingko Petrified Forest in western Washington state contains a large variety of petrified plant species, more than any other site known. The plants represent a mixture of tropical and temperate species that appear to have been transported and not grown in situ. Published in Origins v. 1, n. 2.

The age of the earth and the antiquity of man are of no particular theological import in and of themselves, though theologians have become interested in the subject because of the purported discrepancy between the biblical view of these periods and that now held by most modern scientists.

Trees were measured at nine locations in two general areas in Arizona and Utah. Preliminary data show very strong orientation of logs at most sites. Published in Origins v. 1, n. 1.

The Bible-Science Subcommittee of the Biblical Research Committee of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists met a year ago to begin the development of an adequate flood model. A review of the book, Genesis in Space and Time. The author’s thesis is that the earth, the creation story and other events related in Genesis are clearly part of the flow of Biblical history. Thousands of well-preserved Cambrian fossils are found in the Burgess Shale of Alberta, Canada. These Cambrian fossils are complex and diverse, in contradiction to the expectations of evolutionary theory. Published in Origins v. 1, n. 1.
