A tiny marine worm, Spirorbis, constructs a calcareous tube, and is often found attached to shells and debris in the ocean. Fossil Spirorbis are sometimes common in coal beds. Some have suggested Spirorbis lived in fresh-water habitats in the past, but this is highly unlikely. It is more likely that coal formed in marine waters during the Flood. Growth lines found in several invertebrates show promise of serving as a basis for many avenues of investigation. Their value as an independent method for geochronometry is presently questioned, while other methods of using them are being developed. Published in Origins v. 1, n. 2.
