
Dr. Standish works as a research scientist at the Geoscience Research Institute (GRI). His interests include the interface between science, public policy and faith. The nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, which he studied while working on his Ph. D. at George Mason University, is his primary research organism. Current research in Dr. Standish’s laboratory involves use of the C. elegans genome as a test bed for determining the meaning of data generated using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD).
Dr. Standish is a popular public speaker on the topics of design in nature and the relationship of science with faith. He has spoken in schools, churches and public meetings in Canada, the United States and Australia. Dr. Standish has also appeared on local and satellite television and radio networks as both a featured guest and news commentator.
