EDITOR'S ANGLE

Evidence of design in nature, or "intelligent design," has become a battle cry for scientists within the Christian community. They promote strong evidence for the intervention of God in the creation of life. Henry Zuill's article addresses some of these issues from an ecological perspective which may be new to some of our readers.
In addition to the suggestion that the complex integration of our ecology requires design, Dr. Zuill explores the concept that the persistence of negative traits and the loss of biodiversity may be due to the breakdown of the original ecology. Based on the complexity and integrated nature of Earth's ecology, he implies a short chronology for the creation of diverse life forms on the Earth and clearly affirms the biblical six-day creation. We are thankful to Dr. Zuill for his insights and contribution to Geoscience Reports.
